Climbing-wise there’s some excellent gritstone or limestone, trad or sport with options for all abilities. It’s also a good area for walking, mountain biking, caving and white water kayaking. Likely crags are Brimham Rocks and Almscliff:

Good selective climbing guidebooks for the area are Rockfax Northern England, and Rockfax Northern Limestone : Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lancashire. Good definitives are YMC Yorkshire Gritstone Vols 1&2, and YMC Yorkshire Limestone.
