Mountain Biking

Hello All,
Just putting some final touches to the Twisted oaks meet. There is a pub meal afterwards at the Shannon. Please contact Chris Barber if you want to join us.
Meeting at 11am – twisted oaks doesn’t open until 10am anyway, and that is also dependent on James, the owner, having completed his safety lap of the XC and the other sections of trail (but he has bought an e-bike to speed the process up)
They charge £6 for the day and ask that you bring the right money as its not exactly set up as a business with a till – reception is a gazebo!
There is no potable water or food for sale, so you will need to bring water for the day and lunch/snacks (jelly babies recommended)
There is pretty much something for everybody here. there is cross country trail riding similar to Thetford (half the distance, and twice the interesting features), there is a jumps and drops area – the bigger jumps being more suited to jump specific bikes, but there are smaller ones that work fine on regular MTBs) and there is a down hill dual race track (pit yourself against your friends) – of course as we know Suffolk isn’t the most hilly – so the run isn’t all that long.
The absolute best thing about this place however is the progressive nature of it, the drop area ranges from the height of a kerb to about 3 foot, the jumps go from a set of baby tables to 6ft high ramps with gaps in the middle to make you focus extra hard, and the trails have various options. The main 4ish mile trail has the drops signed and there is a stay on the ground option next to them all – so it is completely beginner friendly.
Finding Twisted Oaks
Its not the easiest to find if you don’t know its there. this google link is the location of the driveway https://goo.gl/maps/RG4Wf6nKmGTaN52ZA – The driveway has been formed  on the left – opposite the oak tree. there is now a very small white sign at the base of the tree pointing into the drive. Basically if you come off the A12 RBT towards Waldringfield, take the first right turn after a hundred meters/yards, pass through Brightwell and the driveway/tree is about 180 metres/yards after the speed limit derestriction sign. The driveway is a very sandy track – so don’t worry, you are going the right way!
