Read our constitution for details.

The next meet is in 6 days
The Lakes
Location: Langdale
Organiser: Steve C
Details: Climbing, walking, scrambling and what-have-you up in Great Langdale.
I've booked 8 spaces at the National Trust Langdale campsite. Those are available 1st come 1st served. We may be able to get more but no guarantees. Alternative campsites are available elsewhere in the valley.
From a climbing perspective there's routes at all grades from Mod (e.g. Middlefell buttress, just 20mins from the road) to E-silly.
As you all know, there's plenty of walking and scrambling options nearby too.
Please let me know if you are interested in joining this meet. If you are new to club meets, please also have a look at the club meets guidelines here. This will be an "informal meet" so it's up to members to make their own arrangements for climbing partners, but I'll try to put people in touch if you let me know your preferences. I'm also happy to co-ordinate sharing transport so please let me know if and when you will need, or can offer, a lift.
I will, of course, be organising blue skies and 20-something temperatures.

Rock climbing for beginners
Location: Derbyshire Peaks
Organiser: Dan
Details: Roll up, roll up.......
It that's time of year again, the days are getting longer, the temperature is staying above freezing and the Ipswich mountaineering group are starting their climbing adventures......outside.
If you are started to find climbing indoors a bit repetitive, same holds day in day out, or standing at the bottom of the wall and wishing you could be standing outstand in the beautiful countryside (weather not guaranteed!), this meet is for you!
If you fancy experiencing climbing outside, the IMC Beginners meet is the place to be. We will ascend upon the Peak District and with excellent friction slabs you can see what you rock boots are really made for, or you could experience some superb jamming cracks and actually put your hands into something instead of just holding on, or ...... errrr learn why jugs are actually called jugs?
But what if you ‘haven't climbed out side before’ or you ‘ haven't climbed for a while and feel a bit rusty’ i hear you say... no worries, this is the opportunity to be teamed up with more experienced members, who will check that knot for you, and offer advice on how to tackle that crux move.
So what’s the catch? there isn't one! you might have to buy the experienced member a beer for his labour, but that's its.
So when is it? Saturday the 1st and Sunday the 2nd of June 2013. Some people arrive Friday night and camp, others travel up the Saturday morning.
And where is it? Plan will be to camp at Hardhurst Farm near Hope, Derbyshire. They have onsite showers, breakfast cafe and is located directly behind the Travellers Rest which serves evening meals. The nearby villages also host coffee shops, Indian restaurants and an opportunity to go gear shopping.
So what do you have to do? email equipment@ipswich-m-c.co.uk with the following information.....
Experience/what you would like to achieve
If you need a helmet/harness (ropes etc. will be provided by experienced members)
Travelling arrangements... date/time/location leaving, date/time coming back. and if you can offer, or need a lift.
Let me know if you are under the age of 18
You will need to be self sufficient in terms of tent, sleeping bag, cooking, waterproofs (or sun cream), and camping fees (about £5 per night) etc.
For those aspiring to be leaders/assistant leaders (and or tea makers) please come forward now, this weekend only happens because of the time you give, my thanks in advance.
What happens next? I will shortly send out a new email to all those that respond (or already have enquired), and start the process of teaming people up.
Any questions/problems, just ask!
DaNo
Your friendly gear officer

Welsh 3000s
Location: Snowdonia
Organiser: Ian T
Details: A two day attempt at the Welsh 3,000’s including a wild camp on the Saturday night.
Starting from the lay by near at Pen-y-Gwrd hotel (no longer a possibility since they installed pay & display parking machines!!) early Saturday am to walk up Snowdon for the beginning of the classic south-north route. An alternative start would be to walk in to Glaslyn on Friday night and have two nights wild camping, which would give us a head start on Saturday morning.
The Welsh 3’s are all the peaks of 3,000 feet above sea level from Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa, Carnedd Ugain, Crib Goch) across to the Glyders (Elidir Fawr, Y Garn, Glyder Fawr, Glyder Fach, Tryfan) then up on to Carneddau (Pen yr Ole Wen, Carnedd Dafydd, Yr Elen, Carnedd llewelyn, Foel Grach, Carnedd Uchaf,, Foel Fras). It’s not over then of course as we’ll need to walk back to the cars on Sunday taking in any tops we didn’t manage to bag on Saturday!
Caveat - if the weather forecast is total cack we might have to either re-schedule for another weekend or cancel and do something else.
Further details to follow.
